From the Westchester Herald’s coverage of the event: The solemn 9-11 Memorial and Candlelight Vigil was “something we must do to get through this tragic day.” Peter Parente, President of the United Veterans Memorial & Patriotic Association and moderator continued, “We must never forget where we came from.” He cited the importance of the New Rochelle Armory which was supposed to be the original site for this event but instead was held at the American Legion Post 8 in New Rochelle because of inclement weather. Countywide, we have both retailers and restaurants being highlighted. Most recent is Educational Tools and Toys, located on Main St…Frank and Rosa McGrath are highlighted in a great article. Their shop is located at 572 Main St, on the corner of Centre and Main. Last month, Habitat’s ReStores were featured as well. It’s New Ro’s time in So No New Ro! |

Habitat for Humanity Westchester and Architect Ed Binkley teamed up in 1998 to build a house in Yonkers. Located at 1 Porach St, the house was an award winner and was featured on the Bob Vila's series "Home Again." This house and others in Yonkers are covered in this articles: nytimes, habitatwc Ed is covered in an article in today's Westchester Journal that highlights his focus to designing homes "that are small but comfortable, affordable, and green."
